Our Story
Burk Energy Raters was founded with a simple mission: help builders construct better, more efficient homes. With over 10 years of experience in residential energy rating and building performance testing, we've rated hundreds of homes and helped our builders client navigate the evolving landscape of energy codes and certification programs.
We believe that energy efficiency isn't just about meeting code โ it's about building homes that are more comfortable, more durable, and more affordable to operate. It's also about fewer builder callbacks. Our approach combines deep technical knowledge with practical, builder-friendly guidance.

Meet Our Team
President and Chief Executive Officer
Kevin Burk
Kevin is a native of Maryland and has lived in Boerne since 2013. He spent his youth on residential construction sites working with his father. Upon graduating high school he joined the US Army, eventually retiring 33 years later in 2015 as a Colonel of Military Police. He then decided to pursue his passion for home energy performance by becoming a home energy rater, or HERS rater, and starting his company with the purpose of serving both the builder and the homeowner in creating homes that are comfortable and energy efficient.

Ethan Williams
A native Texan, Ethan grew up in the Texas Hill Country. He joined the team as a RESNET Residential Field Inspector trainee in 2021, learning building science from the ground up. He strives to learn and teach others about home energy efficiency and better building practices. He works hard to provide for his family, and to provide our builder clients with the knowledge and skills they need to build and certify their energy efficient homes. Ethan is a fully credentialed HERS Rater and Energy Star Partner.
Certified Home Energy Rater
Aaron Williams
A native Texan, Aaron grew up in the Texas Hill Country. He joined the team as a man willing to learn in January 2025, and earned his HERS rater credential in December 2025. Aaron is a student of building science and strives to provide our builder clients with the knowledge and skills they need to build and certify their energy efficient homes. Aaron is a HERS Rater and Energy Star Partner.
